#DoYouBelieve? Movie Premiere in Manistee, MI

I have a nice little featured role (Accident Victim’s Wife) in this PureFlix movie by the makers of God’s Not Dead.  The movie looks beautiful! Director Jonathan Gunn and the Crew (special kudos to B Camera Op Bryan Papierski) made lots of magic happen. Here’s the link to IMDb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4056738/

Screen shot 2015-02-28 at 7.05.38 PM

Here’s Joe (Hubby-To-Be) and Me at the Manistee, MI premiere on February 27. Yes, folks, that’s FEBRUARY in Northern Michigan, which is why I’m not wearing a dress on the ol’ red carpet. (I checked and Carhartt does not make formal wear.)

IMAG1345

The Hollywood types were very good (Mira Sorvino, Sean Astin, Fred McGinly etc.), and we REALLY loved Lee Major’s performance. Yes, the 6 MILLION DOLLAR MAN! His performance was simple and warm…just perfect.

Opens in theaters March 20th, 2015.

Note: This is definitely a Christian movie with a very Christian message, in case that isn’t your thing.

Great Friend or Self Gift: #WaitForTheRain by @mariamurnane

This book is a must-read-or-listen for girlfriends of all ages…and if you’re turning 40, it’s even better than a must! Maria Murnane is one of my new very favorite authors-I think you’ll really love her work!
WaitForTheRain

Daphne White is staring down the barrel of forty—and is distraught at what she sees. Her ex-husband is getting remarried, her teenage daughter hardly needs her anymore, and the career she once dreamed about has somehow slipped from her grasp. She’s almost lost sight of the spirited and optimistic young woman she used to be.

As she heads off to a Caribbean island to mark the new decade with her best friends from college, Daphne’s in anything but the mood to celebrate. But when she meets Clay Hanson, a much younger man, she ignores her inner voice warning her that she’s too old for a fling. In fact, this tropical getaway might be the perfect opportunity to picture her future in a new sun-drenched light.

With the help of her friends, Daphne rediscovers her enthusiasm for life, as well as her love for herself—and realizes that her best years are still ahead.

Did you know that you can give someone an audiobook as a gift through AUDIBLE? And of course, you can give yourself the gift of a book, too!

#TheJuniorArsonist’sClub by Craig Tollifson @thejoyofcraig: Super Hot Humor (literally)

Seriously, treat yourself to this two hours of fun. It’s hilarious and irreverent, and sweet, and (as every parent can attest to) the more ridiculous it gets the more real it feels.

For young parents Marilyn and Brad, adopting an orphan girl from Belgorod, Russia, was supposed to make their lives complete. But from the moment she arrives, 12-year-old Zhanna has one thing on her mind: setting fire to the family couch. At first Marilyn is determined to love the pyromania right out of her new daughter. But when Brad jets away on business-or so it seems-Marilyn is forced into a dark and hilarious game of cat-and-mouse with the preteen pyromaniac.

JUST IN TIME FOR A CHRISTMAS DOWNLOAD: BONE DUST WHITE  (Karen Salvalaggio) releases 12/23/14            *I would say this one’s for adults. And it is NOT a romance. It IS a very compelling, well-written  crime/thriller/mystery. It stuck with me well after I left the studio.

Someone is knocking at the door to Grace Adams’ house, and he won’t stop. Grace thinks she knows who it is, but when she goes to her second floor window for a look she sees a woman she doesn’t recognize. The woman isn’t alone for long before a man emerges from the dark of the surrounding woods, stabs her, and leaves her for dead. Trying to help, Grace goes to the woman and is shocked to find that it’s her mother Leanne – a woman who abandoned her 11 years before.   LINK to AUDIBLE:  http://www.audible.com/pd/Mysteries-Thrillers/Bone-Dust-White-Audiobook/B00PM7MJQY/ref=a_search_c4_1_1_srTtl?qid=1418782859&sr=1-1

This one was even recommended by the Chicago Tribune! Whoa! Here’s what they said:  (See below for companion gift.)

Amy Falls Down by Jincy Willett (Narrated by Amy McFadden, Brilliance, $14.99)

Forget Dave Barry. Put down that David Sedaris. No book made me laugh more in 2014 than “Amy Falls Down.” Novelist Amy Gallup has given up writing as well as meaningful contact with the outside world. Her closest friend is her basset hound, who changes her life when he distracts her as she moves a heavy potted plant. She loses her balance and strikes her head on a birdbath. Moments later, the addled Amy answers the door to a reporter whom she had intended to send packing. Instead, in her semi-conscious state, she gives an interview that, through the magic of the Internet, transforms her into a celebrity — a very outspoken one. Narrator Amy McFadden displays perfect comic timing, creating a solid and believable Amy, making clear that this is more than a comic novel. It is the story of a woman coming back to life.

COMPANION GiFT:  Moleskine notebook (you’ll get the connection when you’ve read the book-it’s funny and practical and comes in lots of pretty colors).

VANISHED by (Kendra Elliot)  Ages 18+ish      This thriller has a kick-butt crime-fighting female lead, and a little romance, too! Elliot writes very real characters, engaging plot and SIZZLE.

SCARLET BERNARD SERIES (Melissa F. Olsen)

The series includes 3 books Dead Spots, Trail of Dead and Hunter’s TrailThese books have very fun plots and characters-and the wry, sarcastic “heroine” Scarlett is hilarious. These are NOT typical romances (no obligatory sex scenes) or typical thrillers (no obligatory torture)-they’re not typical anything which makes them GREAT. And-BONUS!-you can buy them for anyone!

When LA’s vampires, witches, and werewolves make a mess, they call Scarlett Bernard to clean it up. Her ability as a null erases all magical traces from anything — or anyone — that comes within ten feet of her, and keeps humans in the dark about the city’s paranormal activity.
